The Power of Name Study: Teaching our Youngest Learners The Foundational Skills Through Their Names

$20.00

Whether virtually or in person, studying children’s names is one of the first ways to build community in the classroom and create engagement. Not only are we having fun stretching, stomping, clapping and moving around to the letters in our names, but we are focusing on the Common Core Foundational Skills while teaching phonics and phonemic awareness.

During this session, you will receive a variety of strategies and lessons on how to build engagement, how to create hands-on materials (for you and the students to use while teaching reading/writing), and how to continuously build a classroom community (virtually or in the classroom) by studying students’ names and transferring that knowledge to reading and writing. The same structure and document you will receive for the name study work will also be available to use for teaching high frequency/sight words. You will also get to see “how” I use the name study document with kindergartners during a recorded zoom session.

This live webinar was recorded on Saturday, OCT 17, 2020 from 9:00a-10:00a PT and is now available for you to watch any time.

HOW IT WORKS:

Upon checkout, you will receive an automatic download with the private YouTube link and worksheets.
